Behind The Music

I am Cheryl Prazak, a lyricist from Tyler, Texas. I’m a “lyricist” since others have called me that. Originally I said only “words by,” so little did I know about writing lyrics, which began about three years ago from a point of less than baseline knowledge of music, that is, I knew nothing about music and do not even sing well, but from a desire to express my thoughts, especially on subjects about which I have strong convictions, and to challenge myself to write as an exercise, somewhere in the writing I find my theme and purpose for writing a particular song.
My music style is sometimes described as “heartfelt storytelling” and my genres are Christian Country, Country Rockabilly (“I Wanna Sing With Johnny Someday”), with one traditional country song, “Where Do We Go From Here,” for which I received a Sync Agreement for a movie, also Christian, Bluegrass and Americana, expressing my love of God and country, all flowing from my traditional country roots, having been born in Nashville, but having grown up in Texas. Whatever genre or theme, the listener will find faith somewhere in each of my songs.
In addition to writing lyrics, I have written one book for older children or for parents to read to their children. The illustrated book, “Do Lord Do You Remember Me?” (Summer 2026) will take the reader, young or old, to that place in time when they discovered God for themselves.
